A tailored process
The process begins with a meeting where I, together with you, listen to your wishes and ideas for a new piece of jewelry where you want to reuse your old gold. After that, I conduct a thorough review of each piece, assessing the gold and gemstones. In collaboration with you, we decide whether the best step is to melt down the jewelry into a new design, or if it would be better to sell it. Sometimes we also discover that the jewelry should remain intact as a valuable heirloom.
If the old jewelry contains gemstones, these must be carefully removed from the piece, after which the gold and stones are cleaned. The gold is then melted at high heat, and the new jewelry is cast. After this, I grind and polish the piece, and finally, the stones are set. This process ensures that the new jewelry is of the highest quality and carries the history you wish to preserve.
Is it worth using your old gold?
An important consideration is whether it is worthwhile to remelt your gold into new jewelry.
For example, when I cast a ring that weighs 5 grams, the process requires twice as much gold, i.e., 10 grams, to achieve the most durable result. The casting process requires high pressure, and the extra gold ensures that the jewelry is solid and long-lasting. The remaining gold, left after melting, you take home with you, and it can be used for future jewelry projects.
How long does it take?
If you want a piece of jewelry from my collection, the delivery time will be 4-6 weeks, and if you wish to have a unique piece of jewelry made, where I design it specifically for you, it takes 8-12 weeks.
