I love to be inspired by the nature around me and use this incredible source of inspiration in my work as a jewellery designer. Nature is an endless treasure trove of beauty and creativity, and I often find inspiration on different levels:
- Relationship with nature: Nature's fantastic shapes and patterns give me direct inspiration for my jewellery. For example, my "Waves Ring" was created as a tribute to my childhood memories of growing up by the beach. The organic shape of the ring beautifully reflects the dance of the waves and the flow of the water.
- Direct shaping: My personal connection to nature is also a great source of inspiration. The "Capri Ring" was created with inspiration from the honeysuckle stems that softly and protectively intertwine around a diamond. I am fascinated by how nature can embrace and protect at the same time.
- Jewellery names: Often, the jewellery's name finds its own way to me when I am in the middle of the design process. The names come to me as part of the story behind the piece. The "Rock necklace" is an example of this, as it was inspired by the rocks by the water's edge, and the name reflects the raw beauty of the jewellery.
A meditative walk in nature
To immerse myself in nature and find the perfect inspiration, I often take a trip to Bøtøskoven in Marielyst, where our summer house is located. These walks are meditative moments for me, where I can alone reflect on the movements of nature. The sound of the wind rustling in the treetops, the dance of reeds and flowers in the wind, and the scent of sand and beach give me an inner calm.
On these trips, I am fully present in the moment and let my senses capture the beauty of nature. Sometimes I sit on a large tree trunk and meditate, or I sit on the beach, close my eyes, and listen to nature's own sounds. These moments give me clarity and connection to nature in a deeper way.
Capturing nature's magic in jewellery design
After my meditative walks, I return to my workshop and translate my impressions into jewellery design. I use hard wax, which I shape with my hands and tools such as a grinder and files. Here, I let my thoughts flow freely, and I let nature's forms guide me in the early stage of jewellery design.
When I work with wax, I often use a spirit lamp to give the jewellery the organic expression that I see in nature. This is where the jewellery's personality begins to take shape, and I sense which name best suits the piece.
Craftsmanship and love for nature go hand in hand
For me, jewellery craftsmanship is more than just an occupation; it is my passion for nature's beauty and the unique organic aesthetic. Every piece of jewellery I create carries a part of nature's magic, and it is my joy to share this magical connection with my customers.
